Today, many women consider a full rounded and curvy backside as more attractive. This can be more indicative of youthfulness and an active, healthy lifestyle. While older techniques to improve a flat or sagging buttocks included use of an implant, this approach often led to unnatural results and general discomfort along with potential complications. Dr. Garlick offers the cutting-edge Brazilian Butt Lift procedure — an innovative and safe technique that can plump and sculpt the buttocks using your own fat, giving you the curves you have always desired. This can naturally enhance the volume of the buttocks without an implant, while also allowing patients to contour the original location of the transferred fat via liposuction.
How is the Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure Performed?
A Brazilian Butt Lift is performed by first harvesting fat cells from a fat-abundant region of the body — usually the abdomen, flanks, and back — with liposuction. This process involves making tiny, discreet incisions at the “donor” site, subsequently using a liposuction cannula to suction out the fat cells. The fat is then processed, purified, and prepared before the injection process. With Dr. Garlick’s special injection technique, he will inject your natural fat cells into the buttocks within the subcutaneous plane, delivering fat in a grid-like fashion to help facilitate even, proportional volume enhancement. Since not all of the transferred fat will survive, he may inject a relatively larger amount of fat and the buttocks may appear more augmented than initially expected. Patients should expect about 50 to 80% “fat take” with fat transfer. Results generally reveal themselves in the year following the procedure and the outcome often improves as the body continues to heal.
“My BBL results turned out exactly as I want…not too big or too small. I asked Dr. Garlick for the size that is proportion to my height. I really love my new butt. I appreciated Dr. Garlick with his skills, and experience. His bedside manner, and overall care are excellent.”
What Can I Expect During the Recovery Period After a Brazilian Butt Lift?
After buttock augmentation surgery, a compression garment is typically worn to reduce swelling, protect your incisions, and help shape your new contours. While most swelling will resolve in the first few weeks after surgery, residual swelling and inflammation can come and go for up to six months. Most patients are able to return to work after two weeks, depending on their jobs, and light daily activities can be resumed after approximately five to seven days. Dr. Garlick will advise you to avoid smoking and tobacco use before and after surgery, as smoking can reduce blood flow and negatively affect the survival of the transferred fat. More detailed recovery instructions and information about the healing process will be provided in person. He will guide you in your sitting and sleeping positions to protect and optimize your healing.
